We shall start a new theme this half term titled,

We do like to be beside the seaside !

We’re all going on a summer holiday!.  No more worries for a week or two! 

  Just what was it like to be on holiday  over 100 years ago? How different was it?

We shall be looking at the past through the eyes of the Deering Family  of Barton Seagrave.  We will be using photographs and videos to learn more about this exciting age. 

Our visit to Wicksteeds Park will  support our learning and give us an opportunity to dress in the style of the Victorians.

Literacy

What was it like to be a Victorian child ? We will be creating a diary entry as though we were part of the Deering Family,building up a seaside wordlist; researching information about one particular seaside resort and writing a postcard.

 

 

History

 We will be looking at how a seaside holiday has changd over the years.  What did people wearthen and now?  What kind of entertainment was there? How did people travel in the past on holiday? We shall be using photographs, videos, DVD , books and  a range of resource material from the Deering family of 1880.

 

 

      Geography

 

  How is Aldwincle different to Hunstanton?  We shall be finding out the physical and human features of a seaside resort and comparing different seaside towns around the UK .  We will be locating  destinations of holidays on a map. How far away do we travel on holiday?
